Compared to 2008, how do you feel today about the Democratic Party?

I've been reading lots of pessimistic, angry posts here lately, and I wonder how that translates to your committment to helping get Democrats elected.

10. Furious at all the dead wood in the Senate

Obama is a conservative Democrat with a large gap between his rhetoric and his actions, but I knew that when I voted for him. He's actually done quite a bit better than I expected him to, so I can't say I'm displeased.

However, the performance of the Senate has been nothing short of shameful, especially on health care reform. They allowed the GOP to rip the guts out of real reform and they had to have known that party would never have voted for any bill the Democrats had sponsored, the political atmosphere in this country is so toxic. The filibuster has been abused consistently and legislation that both parties say is necessary has been stalled because the Republicans simply don't want any legislation to pass unless it's by their majority, which they don't have. Reid has simply failed in his job of getting legislation through the GOP obstruction and no one has gotten the message out about why things in that geriatric gentlemen's club have gotten so bad.

The Democrats are still the "Where else could you go?" party for working class people with a clue, but if they don't clean up their act in the Senate, their time in power will be severely limited as the working class sits home on election day.

I consider leadership material even if I were R. Most of these R's today are simply off their rockers. They seem to embrace the lunatic fringe and that's it, although, I'm convinced that fringe is growing and growing in this country. It's more than a little concerning. Frankly, it's boiling down to a choice between sane (D) and insane (R) IMO.
