These actually sound like Sarah Palin talking points the more you reflect upon his actual comments. And now he stands behind them. I haven't heard anything from the White House saying anything different have you?

He's sending a clear message that the Obama Administration is marginalizing and demonizing the left as unrealistic drug using socialist hippy peaceniks and are moving themselves even farther to the right in preparation for this election and the next Presidential.

I also think it is possible that they are planning something so controversial that they know without a doubt that the progressive left will leave them in droves and this is a preemptive move. If he does it the following year, it'd be election time. Not wise. If he waits until after the election, it may never get done because he could lose the election. A Republican president would have a much harder time cutting Social Security than a corporate stooge Democrat.

The only rational explanation is that the White House WANTS to lose seats in November.
