What became Colorado's nastiest primary fight lasted 328 days. Andrew Romanoff, who lost the Democratic U.S. Senate race to Sen. Michael Bennet, got less than 48 hours to get over it.
Flanked by many of the state's top Democrats and by DNC Chair Tim Kaine, the two former rivals shook hands on the west steps of the Capitol Thursday afternoon during a staged rally meant to show party unity.
"Those goals which we share will better be advanced by Michael Bennet than by any other candidate in this race," Romanoff said. "It is an easy call for me; it should be an easy call for you as well."
"Colorado is a much better place for having Andrew as our leader," Bennet said. "Andrew inspired thousands of Coloradans all across this state, made calls for him, knocked on doors for him, and that is a tribute to him and the man that he is. To those who supported Andrew and volunteered for him, I hope to earn your support in this race."
