Dr Schlessinger:
Minimization of racism is awful easy for you. You had not explored the context of your callers feelings or the motivation of the person in the example she started to describe. You jumped to conclusions and I know why.
But first your attempt at logic is woefully inadequate. Basically you said that concern about racism is really "hypersensitivity" because Obama was elected. 58,343,670 Americans plus you voted for John McCain and millions of Americans did not vote at all. If we can infer a lack of racism from the 66 million plus Americans who voted for Obama, what about the majority who either didn't vote or voted for a white male? According to an inverse application of your own logic, you may have proved the callers point. And not because you seemed to proudly use the N-word, although you did that as well.
It isn't just because you demonstrated ignorance and arrogance artfully, though you certainly did that, it's because you use ideology in place of reason, and call it righteousness. Ideology, ignorance, and arrogance are not virtues even if you like to attach lovely labels to their conglomeration. Frankly, it is like putting frosting on a cow patty. But it isn't even real frosting, it is just plain shit.
Sincerely,
“You Pharisees are so careful to clean the outside of the cup and the dish, but inside you are filthy—full of greed and wickedness!" -Luke 11:37
