I've had CNN on for about 45 minutes, and they only mentioned it for the first time about 15 seconds ago.


Glad that the channel works so hard to keep us informed of world events.

Honestly, I've been able to follow the story, but my point was that I had to go looking for information.

If a brown-skinned man had surreptitiously opened a Snickers bar during a cross-country flight, I'd be hearing about it 24/7. But a cataclysmic tragedy strikes, and nary a peep.

Our domestic video news outlets do have a tendency to report on the initial event then largely ignore the aftermath. The print news organizations are a bit better about follow-up but even then it's not that much when it's mass death from a natural disaster half way around the world.

which i heard more this morning on it and i have seen a couple articles on net cnn.

20. NPR is like our version of the BBC....

and not what most people use to get news in the states. For me, NPR isn't a primary resource because I can't listen to radio talk no matter how good it. I do read transcripts on the site when someone points me to them.

i love bbc, but npr has more national discussions that interest me. but bbc was my first intro to radio news and go to that a lot too.

i am hooked on discussions though.

I haven't been on CNN.com in ages because I hate their format and their tendency to give entertainment news so much above-the-fold coverage.

Still, I'm gratified that they're covering the tragedy at least online.


The tv channel is awful. It's like E! News for about 23.75 hours of every day.

This disaster is probably going to dwarf the earthquakes in everything except concern.
During the Haiti disaster, folks were analyzing every photograph and air drop to either prove or disprove whether we were sending enough help. Where are the benefit concerts?

24. If you were in Pakistan and referred to Pakistanis as Indians you'd be

drawn and quartered. Part of the answer to your question is in the question itself, namely people obviously don't know very much about Pakistan. The question you should have asked is why the world isn't responding to Pakistan's need for urgent aid.
