per his latest email:
It's me, or them.
In the run-up to our Moneybomb next Monday, we are going to introduce you to my opponents. Like flies are attracted to you-know-what, right-wing lunatics are attracted to running for Congress this year.
I have nine of them, running against me.
A few days ago, I told you about Dan Fanelli, the racist. Today, it's Bruce O'Donoghue, the tax cheat.
Bruce O'Donoghue didn't pay a whopping $300,000 in taxes last year.
Now that's a tax cut!
The company that O'Donoghue owns, the Orwellian-named "Control Specialists Co.", didn't pay any payroll taxes last year. So the IRS hit O'Donoghue with a $300,000 lien.
Bruce O'Donoghue certainly deserves to have the federal government paying for his room and board next year. Not in Congress, though. In the Federal Correctional Institution in Miami.
After the news came out, O'Donoghue called for a 5% across-the-board tax cut. That seems fair. 5% for us, and 100% for him.
Here's the delicious irony: O'Donoghue builds and installs traffic signals. Every single dollar he makes comes from our taxes. But he won't pay taxes himself.
And here is the scary part: O'Donoghue is not some fringe candidate. He has raised a huge amount of money in his campaign against me. More than anyone else. Over half a million dollars.
Including $125,000 of his own money. Hey, why not? He doesn't pay taxes, so he's loaded.
Here is the "mission statement" for O'Donoghue's company, from its website:
Our mission, as it relates to our owners, is to be faithful and good stewards of the opportunity God has granted us to perform. Therefore, being a prosperous organization and giving a witness to the Lordship of Jesus Christ in our lives and others. The result of accomplishing our mission to our owners will be pleasing in the eyes of God as we attempt to love Him in our work as well as our home.
Brucie, do you remember the part in the New Testament where it says "Render unto Caesar what is Caesar's"?
And by the way, O'Donoghue didn't pay his employee's FICA taxes. Which means that they didn't get any FICA credit for working last year. Which means that O'Donoghue not only cheated the taxpayers, but he also cheated his employees out of their Social Security.
What a guy.
So who should be in Congress next year, Bruce O'Donoghue or me? And what are you going to do about it?
Please donate $25 or more now, and I'll make sure everyone in my district knows about O'Donoghue's hypocrisy.
This year, it's not us versus us. It's us versus them. That's what the 2010 election is all about.
Courage,
Alan Grayson
