How low in the polls will Obama sink?
So now that Obama has hit a new low of 42% approval while 50% (!) disapprove, is he headed towards the 30s in the near term?

Think about this for a sec, 50% of Americans disapprove of the job he is doing

This is obviously not good, even the most ardent Obama supporters must be a little worried about these numbers and trends. No amount of koolaid is going to make this look good to you.

And the Democratic party is going to suffer a lot if these numbers don't improve. Obama is slowly becoming radioactive to the Dem party, and it better turn around quickly!

3. He is rock solid at 36-38% job approval, IMO

I don't see any real chance of a drop at any point this year much below today's 42% approval.

5. You know, there was this poll the other day......
Edited on Mon Aug-16-10 07:59 PM by FrenchieCat
that said that if one climbed down a mountain top,
with a tablet chisseled out of stone while wearing sandals,
one is most likely Moses.

100% of those polled agreed.

Of the how many millions of folks who believe in the bible,
1,000 were surveyed.

So next time you are coming down the mountain, ditch the tablets,
or you might be mistaken.

Moral of the story; those who live by the polls,
will be long dead before they are proven right or wrong,
or even in-between. Polls are manufactured just like the news.

6. The poll doesn't reveal the information I'd really like to know.
I strongly disapprove of Obama's performance in office,
but from a left-wing, "he's not doing nearly enough"
perspective.

That's a much different sort of disapproval than the,
say, Right-wing Christian conservative who disapproves
of Obama merely because of his very existence.

A proper, informative poll would tease apart these
various aspects of disapproval but that, of course,
isn't what the Media corporations want; they just
want to bash the "Democrat" so all subtleties are
flushed away to produce this one depressing number.

9. Nearly all Presidents in my lifetime,
and that's going back to Eisenhower, have had a disapproval rating higher than an approval rating at one time or another.

10. I do see some further downside possible
but when he gets to oppose a Repuke Congress, he will rise again.

11. How low are you willing to push them?
As I posted to a similar thread not long ago:

His numbers are rather remarkable...

Considering that he has been vigorously fought on everything by a party that vowed to do exactly that...

Considering that his inclination to include all sides in the discussion has been repeatedly and consistently abused by those who demand concession in exchange for support they will never give...

Considering that our media is overwhelmingly owned and controlled by those whose bottom lines are tied to those who promote interests that are not necessarily in the best interests of the country...

Considering that he is tasked with undoing great damage while simultaneously working to strengthen our foundations...

Considering that he is relentlessly vilified by corporate "grassroots" groups that seek to undermine him at every opportunity...

Considering that some on the left find it more expedient to throw him under the bus rather than help him drive it...

In the face of all that, imagine what his numbers would be if more of us would keep in mind that it's Yes WE Can. WE.
