A black woman who is married to a white man called in for advice on how to handle her husband's white friends' racial comments. What followed was a bizarre tirade, Dr. Laura getting angrier by the minute, which had nothing to do with the reason the woman called. It had to do more with her apparent disdain for blacks in general, even digressing about Obama's having been elected by blacks for no reason other than he was "half-black"; later, she contradicts herself by saying that Obama's victory was due to the white vote. Bizarre.

Poor caller never got the advice she originally called in for. She served as a prop for Dr. Laura to unleash her twisted, prejudiced ideas.

I got the email from Media Matters ("... call Advance Auto Parts at 1-877-ADVANCE and tell them they should stop advertising on Dr. Laura's show."), made the call, and like to think I had at least a little part in her radio demise.

Such action needs to happen en masse to Limbaugh's advertisers.

Laura the Unloved's best days are nearly 15 years in the rear view mirror. She's long since faded as a popular and even marketable personality...relegated to graveyard shifts on a shrinking roster of stations. No surprise here. I felt her outburst was a publicity ploy to attempt to get some attention/ratings, but may have actually backfired. Oh well...one less blight on the public airwaves.

Speaking of usurping First Ammendment rights...who decided that our public airwaves should be 91% conservative? If anyone has had their rights usurped its been the many Progressive and Liberal voices that were crowded off the dial by the large corporates.

She was not taken off the air by the government. She was taken off the air because of capitalism and the fact that she isn't bringing enough in money from sponsors. She's one of the privileged few who got to use the public air waves to espouse her views. She lost her show because she abused that privilege and has no one to blame but herself.

She can walk down any street she wants yelling N... N... N... She might get her ass kicked, laugh at or she might get a pat on the back, depending on which street she does it. But she still has the same rights as everyone else to be a complete douche bag. She just can't do it on the air because the capitalists just don't need her anymore.

does not mean speech without consequences. People may say what they like and others have a right to disagree. She did this to herself. In addition, the first amendment says, "Congress shall make no law..." not that private citizens can not protest what you say. So say what you will and be ready for possible consequences.
