Who Has Most Expensive School Supplies?

3. I pointed out on another thread

that when I grew up, the district provided just about everything. There was no "list." On the first day of school, we merely brought in our personal binders. If we wanted to bring in our "favorite" pens or pencils, fine, but not required...since there were always plenty of extra writing tools already in the classrooms.

I remember in 5th grade having to buy a "cigar box," memorable in that it was one of the few things my parents had to buy for me for school, and also because I didn't use it that much.

The school supply list usually goes home once, at the beginning of the year.

How am I supposed to know what the duration of the supplies is? I thought it looked like an amount for a month worth of supplies.

8. $72. for supplies only and couldnt find FOUR sharpners i need. hubby made me feel better

this is just one son that i spent 72 dollars to get supplies for yesterday. THREE rules, 28 sticks of glue and on and on. (regulars classes, and his elective art class)

i was really bothered this year but was talking to hubby. i said, i know schools are short money and we need to raise taxes to pay for these, and hubby and i concluded that $72 was really just a tax increase we didnt have to pay for the govt. so, in an odd kinda way i was able to catagorize the money out and not feel so bad spending so much.
