TRENTON — New Jersey State Police Superintendent Rick Fuentes was on the receiving end of a speeding ticket last week.
A trooper clocked Fuentes going 75 mph — 10 mph over the speed limit — while heading north on the Garden State Parkway in Paramus on Friday about 11:30 a.m., spokesman Capt. Gerald Lewis said.
Lewis said the trooper, a veteran with more than 20 years on the force, didn't realize he was pulling over another officer. Fuentes was in an unmarked State Police-issued black Chevy Tahoe.
The trooper didn't give Fuentes a ticket, but afterward Fuentes contacted the State Police Office of Professional Standards to report the stop and request a ticket, Lewis said.
"He realized he violated the law and took responsibility for it," he said.
