Washington -- Ahlam Mohsen, the Michigan State University student who is in jail accused of pelting Sen. Carl Levin with a pie, has a growing coalition of supporters on Facebook.
Anti-war protestors are using the social networking site to update Mohsen's supporters on her status in the Mecosta County Jail in Big Rapids and to organize a rally Friday in Detroit demanding her release.
The Michigan Emergency Committee Against War & Injustice plans to rally at Levin's Detroit office at 12:30 p.m. Friday to demand charges be dropped.
The "Support Ahlam Mohsen" group was created on Facebook earlier this week, and by this afternoon had attracted nearly 60 members. Among the updates posted this week was a request that supporters call the Big Rapids jail and request Mohsen be provided with vegan meals.
