Escaped Arizona inmate John McCluskey and his fiancée, Casslyn Welch, who have been on the lam since July 30, were captured in Apache County in northeastern Arizona, authorities confirmed for 12 News and The Arizona Republic late Thursday.
The U.S. Forest Service was believed to have played a role in their capture, though details remained sketchy.
Authorities have scheduled a 10:15 p.m. briefing at Arizona Department of Corrections headquarters to discuss the capture.
Corrections officials have said Welch, who also is McCluskey's cousin, helped the convict and inmates Tracy Province and Daniel Renwick escape from a private prison facility near Kingman by cutting through a security fence.
Province and Renwick are convicted murderers. McCluskey was serving a 15-year sentence for attempted murder.
