Can anyone tell my why flags have been at half mast all month?
Every flag I have seen on L.I. has been at half mast for the entire month. It seems as though they haven't gone to the top of the pole since Fords death. Why?

1. I noticed that too.
But I think they should stay that way until this Iraq war is over. Our troops are dying every day over there.

6. It IS for Ford- at least that is
my understanding. Gov't flags are supposed to fly for a month at half staff- private flags at the owners discretion.

I agree with the idea that they should fly half mast, till the soldiers come home-

8. They weren't at half-MAST, they were at half-STAFF - -
...unless they were on a ship. Just a small (but important) difference. But I get your point. Personally, I was done mourning after about five minutes.

11. I didn't mourn Gerald Ford
He was a traitor for pardoning Nixon.

That allowed GHWB and other villains to continue plotting the overthrow of democracy for a corporatist junta.

9. standard sign of repect: remember Ford passed away and all flags
where ordered to remain at half staff 30 days....

Same thing happened when Reagan died only the flags remained at half staff 3 days longer due to a Senator-I think- just as the flags where suppost to go full staff.

10. The protocol is 30 days...
But some people are just lazy. From my office window, most of the town's flags have gone back up, except for two office buildings where the flags on thier roofs are still at half-mast. (They may just not be thinking about it)

12. Because the Late Great Saint Gerald Ford died unexpectedly...
And we all know he "saved" the country by pardoning that poor, assaulted friend of the people Richard M Nixon. So for that we all need a moment of silence...

:sarcasm:
