Miss USA Rima Fakih of Dearborn spoke to “Inside Edition” earlier this week about the controversy brewing over plans to build a mosque near the World Trade Center site in New York City.

“I totally agree with President Obama regarding freedom of religion,” the former Miss Michigan said while rehearsing for the Miss Universe pageant in Las Vegas.

The 24-year-old, who is Muslim and was born in Lebanon added, “It shouldn’t be built so close to the World Trade Center. We should be more concerned with the tragedy than with religion.”

Critics say a mosque shouldn’t be built near the site of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, but President Barack Obama has said the mosque should be allowed, as “Muslims have the same right to practice their religion as everyone else in this country."

14. I don't recall anyone ever saying hospitals do not have chapels. However,

one can read here, and elsewhere, that the proposed construction under dispute has no mosque. The Park51 site suggests that they do.

If they think they do, and they call it by it's name, why do so many insist on denying there is one?

Again: is a hospital run by a religious organization that has a chapel a cathedral? Is a YMCA with a chapel a church? If not, then why the double standard?

What has been said here repeatedly is that this is not a mosque, it is an islamic community center.

Calling an islamic community center a mosque in order to fan the flames of bigotry is dishonest bullshit.

And of course there is nothing wrong with building mosque or a community center that contains a mosque anywhere it is legal to do so, and there is a lot wrong with demanding that muslim americans not build anything that includes a mosque within some ill defined region around the wtc.

8. Woman whose only "qualifications" to speak on the matter
