5. He uses humor at times. It is sometimes subtle, sometimes absurd.
I'll have to watch when I get home.

13. Keith also did a story on the Army Corps faulty pumps (NOLA)
Harry Shierer was on (NO resident). BP & trusting what the gov't tells us was also discussed.

He also did a story on the oil plumes vs. what we were told.

Thank you Keith Olbermann for not forgetting. Thank you very much.

14. I seem to remember something from years ago about Jeb
Bush being tied to the company that made those faulty pumps.

I hope that you know that some of us haven't forgotten and are watching the locals in town halls going after local officials, BP reps., and others.

15. Actually, this was a spot about problems w/the new pumps.
Harry was on with a whistleblower Maria Garzino. We are not ready for another Katrina/ Cat 5.
The pumps will fail.

The 5th aniv. is coming up, so he did a piece-

Its the 3rd story at this Countdown link

And no, I know a lot of you will not forget. I am new here but have lurked a while. I know how much you people care about that, and the oil spill as well.
You guys are wonderful. I mean that. I just joined a couple of months ago, and my very first few dozens of posts were thanking you people for the attention you gave to these disasters.
I thank you too.

Dear XXXX

Please don't miss The Big Uneasy, directed by Harry Shearer, and showing in theaters all across America.

The movie, which spotlights the Army Corps of Engineers' role in the flooding of metro New Orleans five years ago, is showing one night only - August 30, 2010.

For theaters and showtimes, click here: http://www.screenvision.com/s/showing/TheBigUneasy/

Here is a description from the movie's website:

Almost five years ago, a disaster struck New Orleans. The media said it was a natural disaster primarily affecting poor black people. On both counts, the media was wrong.

In his feature-length documentary The Big Uneasy, humorist and New Orleans resident Harry Shearer gets the inside story of a disaster that could have been prevented from the people who were there. As we approach the fifth anniversary of the flooding of New Orleans, Shearer speaks to the investigators who poked through the muck as the water receded and a whistle-blower from the Army Corps of Engineers, revealing that some of the same flawed methods responsible for the levee failure during Katrina are being used to rebuild the system expected to protect the new New Orleans from future peril.

In short segments hosted by John Goodman, Shearer speaks candidly with local residents about life in New Orleans. Together, they explore the questions that Americans outside of the Gulf region have been pondering in the five years since Katrina: Why would people choose the live below sea level? Why is it important to rebuild New Orleans? The Big Uneasy is laced with computer imagery that takes you inside the structures that failed so catastrophically, and boasts never-before- seen video of the moments when New Orleans began to flood and the painstaking investigations that followed. The Big Uneasy marks the beginning of the end of five years of ignorance about what happened to one of our nation's most treasured cities - and serves as a stark reminder that the same agency that failed to protect New Orleans still exists in other cities across America.

Harry Shearer and a whistleblower from the Army Corps who is featured in The Big Uneasy will be on Countdown tonight (Friday) with Keith Olberman.

18. Thanks for all of this info.! I have a DVD of Greg Palast's
'Big Easy to Big Empty' and that makes me sick enough, besides watching it all unfold as it was happening then.

Right now it seems as though BP made the entire Gulf a strange, fucked up, more than twisted lab experiment with no thought to the residents, the ecosystem, nothing, except their profits.
