I find it ironic ...

Our combat troops have left Iraq, where according to my numerous and vocal right-wing friends they were "fighting for our freedom." And yet, nobody seems to care. They're all frantically busy trying to infringe on the rights of a religious group that wants to build a community center.

Not to mention trying to take away citizenship rights from babies born in the U.S.

Oh, and hey while we're at it, let's stage a huge rally on the anniversary of Martin Luther King's "Dream" speech with two of the most inflammatory figures in the country stirring up anti-everything-that-is-not-like-us fervor.

On second thought, maybe it's good the troops are back in the states ... I think we're gonna need them here.

1. The right is all about the power and means to an end

If you look at this that way, not so ironic. lol.

I did see another interesting thread about how the evangelicals are upset that Iraq was not converted to Christianity before we left.

2. Could be the russian pattern.

In that case what they learned was not fighting but thinking on systems, russians would not obey orders to overthrow a government.


As far as the right and 'freedom' They actually do believe in freedom, anarchy is purest form of freedom.


What they don't believe in is freedom for everyone. If you walk around and punch anyone you want, that would be a form of freedom. They want to be able to do that with greed, or control, or many other things.

They want freedom for them, while controlling others.



Personally :shrug: I have been pissed for a few days, thinking in terms of finding people to take that out on, so understand that concept.



It is also the same selfishness pattern.

The right wing is trying to protect 'their freedom'

While the left is protecting many peoples freedom


So they want to do what ever they want, while limiting what other people can do. While most on the left wants to set up social laws that can limit some freedoms, to help many people have more choices in life.

"Ironic" is the nicest word I could come up with for it.
