Hey - Democrats can still GAIN SEATS in this year's elections

No, this is not some preachy screed about how we need to hold our noses and vote for Republicrats or else Palin becomes President. "We suck less" has never won elections.

We all know that when FDR came into office he screamed:

"Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!!!! I'M A FUCKING DEMOCRAT, I'LL DO DEMOCRATIC STUFF, AND MY ENEMIES ARE ASSHOLES!!!".

But did you know that Democrats actually increased their majorities in the next elections after FDR became a Democratic values superhero? Did you know that by 1936, only 17 Republicans were left in the Senate!!!

Only 17 Republican Senators left! What an awesome thought!

When Democrats act like Democrats, they win.

Our elected Democrats need to become Democrats immediately, and spend the next 2+ months doing stuff - BIG FUCKING STUFF - for working Americans. If they do that, we'll pick up seats. Otherwise, God help us.

We won the elections in 2006 and 2008 because the voters wanted to change the system. The voters did not want to preserve the status quo. The Democrats and the President have seen their popularity erode because they have not delivered on those expectations.

7. The bottom line is that in virtually every race the winner will be either a Democrat or a Republican

and liking to maintain some connection with reality I choose the Democrat. If I am hungry and faced with the choice of eating something I hate and makes me ill or something I don't like really well, I pick the one I don't like really well every time. I think that reflects pretty good common sense and I have no desire to bite my nose off to spite my face and teach it a lesson. In the end that just leaves me nose-less.

A big loss by Democrats will likely move the party further to the right, much to the chagrin of most here, but it should be expected.

Unfortunately, in the end the middle would probably prefer a straight up Republican to a wishy-washy Democrat who likes to play at being a Republican to get reelected.
