New to facebook and I may be stating the obvious but the biggest privacy vulnerability I see is

having to rely on every single person you befriend to protect their own passwords and as well as to never remain signed in on unattended computers... if one of them screw up, the personal info of all their friends can be compromised forever. Maybe I am making a too big deal of this. And maybe much of it all really depends on how "personal" your facebook data is. But I think it is something to be aware of for sure. If this FB newbie is missing something, please let me know.

1. dumped my Facebook acct.

I was suspicious to begin with. When the security issues begun to arise, I quickly closed the stupid thing OUT.

Who needs this crap? Not me or you I suspect.

3. I was prompted to join just to enjoy some photos from an event. And I only befriended one

person. My initial reaction was... "so this is what the fuss is about?" I do see its usefulness and convenience as a business/promotional tool.

somewhat risky to open an account and (at the same time) expect a flawless system for privacy protection.

2. I think its the google map that locates where you are if you are carrying a phone around

with gps.. (like i-phone). So, if I activate it (which I won't), people will know where I am. people will know when I'm not home or how to stalk me if they so desire.

5. If you're worried about

privacy don't use FaceBook. They are always moving the bar. Keeping up with "privacy" settings is a full time job.
