http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/opinion/ct-talk-art-smith-wedding-0822-20100823,0,1218657.storyWASHINGTON — Chicago chef Art Smith married his longtime partner at a Saturday gala with a nine-tiered wedding cake, a 10-man chorus and 14 guest chefs.
Spiritualist Marianne Williamson began the afternoon ceremony by telling guests Smith had proposed to Jesus Salguerio on their first date.
She said the offer left Salguerio unsure if his friend was "a crazy man or the love of his life."
"He took 10 years to consider," Williamson added, to laughter.
During that decade, the couple has known both sickness and health, Williamson said. It was an allusion to the three times Salguerio has beaten cancer. As the two men recited vows, Salgueiro's voice cracked and Smith wept. "I am an artist, but you are the Art — my art," Salgueiro said. "Without you, the canvas of my life would be empty and bare."

The wedding sounds absolutely lovely. Congrats to both!
