That's like using Troll-A-Way. Asking for specifics and probing behind the sound bite is strictly forbidden. The role of the media is just to pass along whatever hobgoblin is currently occupying the little minds of the Republibots without evaluating it or judging it in any way. Well, in the interest of fairness and balance, I suppose they're allowed to report that "some people" are pumping up this issue or that issue, just so it doesn't look like they themselves are taking that ridiculous position. But that's it! Otherwise, they're just supposed to serve as a conduit and make sure the message gets amplified.

Unfortunately we still don't have an adequate response to this insane argument that the people who lost loved ones on 9-11 somehow are injured by the building of the community center.


My attempt at a response would be this.



Americans lose more than 32,000 of us every year to guns and gun violence.

Shouldn't the feelings of the loved ones who have survived should be taken into account when we consider laws that allow people to carry firearms? These people can be out at a grocery store or in a laundry mat and have someone walk in with a reminder of how their loved one died strapped to his/her hip.

The "Mosque" is in a fixed location and people who are upset by it can simply avoid that location. People who are reminded of the loss of a loved one from a firearm can't avoid everyone who chooses to walk around with a pistol.


If we are considering limiting first amendment rights due to the feelings of people who lost loved ones then we must also consider limiting second amendment rights due to the feelings of people who lost loved ones.



Let them respond to that, I am sure they will come up with something but it should knock them off their hate spewing racist message for a while.
