Alan Simpson: Social Security Is 'A Milk Cow With 310 Million Tits'

Alan Simpson believes that Social Security is "like a milk cow with 310 million tits," according to an email he sent to the executive director of National Older Women's League Tuesday morning. Simpson co-chairs the deficit commission, which is considering various proposals to cut Social Security benefits.

Carson criticized Simpson for repeatedly describing his Social Security opponents as "Pink Panthers," arguing that the description had sexist connotations.

His email is peppered with exclamation points and condescension. At one point he urged Carson to read a certain graph, "which I hope you are able to discern if you are any good at reading graphs."

...handing them leadership positions on a commission tasked with "reforming" it is an awfully strange way to go about it. Keeping them out of the debate altogether would probably be the simplest way, don't you think...? Do you seriously think the public (or the media, for that matter) is paying close attention to the comments of people on some federal deficit commission?

Simpson is on the commission because Obama wanted Simpson's ideas on the table, period. That's not exactly a radical interpretation.

Obama defend these comments and defend appointing someone who blatantly and apparently shamelessly wants to destroy the very program he is supposed to be "saving." And if the Pres. said something like I want all viewpoints at the table, then I'd like to ask him why this was not the case for the healthcare debate or the Wall Street bailout. I tend to agree with what many here have surmised, that this Commission will recommend benefit cuts, raising the age limits, and (hopefully) upping the payroll tax cut-off. Of course, left completely unaddressed will be the sad fact that our beloved corporations force people out the door at age 50. There aren't many tits for people in this country between the ages of 50 and 70 to suck on, Mr. Simpson. Of course, I am sure you yourself and most of the fat cats sitting at the table with you have sucked and will continue to suck down your government furnished, taxpayer funded benefits like a big ole Hoover.
