If Democrats want to win this November
I suggest they Go Ugly Early. They should start running ads making voting Repuke reprehensible. I'm not saying that they should lie, but tell the truth in a no holds barred fashion. For example show a 9-11 first responder with health problems due to 9-11 and tell the people that the Repuke voted to deny health care for him. Or constantly run ads showing Repukes voting to deny extensions on unemployment insurance. Hit them over the head with the truth as often and as hard as possible. Being nice will not work.

2. I know we can't upset "our friends on the other side of the aisle"
They need to grow a spine and fight back and start now.

4. Being bi-partansin in this era of obstructionism is simply naive. However, Dems should not
stoop to low ball Rovian tactics. Obama is right, America is sick of those tactics.

8. Those tactics win elections
whether anyone is "sick of them" is irrelevant.

14. But she did. She was cocky, lost her lead, and resorted to
negative and outlandish campaigning. She even went as far as to call Curt Shilling a NY Yankees fan in Red Sox nation since Shilling supported Brown. She is lucky that is still alive (sarcasm).

However, if you think resorting low ball Rovian tactics wins campaigns, then go for it. Start making shit up about your state's Republican nominee.

Unlike you, I think Obama is right. America is sick and tired of these Rovian tactics and will see through them.

I agree with the OP that you shouldn't lie, but I was disagreeing with another poster on how we should be bipartisan. Its your prerogative to think otherwise. You have plenty of of company that shares your views.

16. I never said that they should make shit up
The simple truth makes them look bad. They voted against providing health care to the 9-11 first responders start hitting them over the head with it. They voted against extending unemployment insurance run ads hitting them over the head with that. Make them spend now until November trying to explain why they were against extending unemployment insurance. Give them the truth and make them think its hell.

9. Hardly.
The party that goes blitzkrieg negative first wins so often that the loss % is negligible. There is never a reason to not go Rovian. I want to win.

If it were up to me, we'd convince half of Floridians that Marco Rubio's middle name was "Pigfucker" and he wants to pave highways through the Everglades with dead babies.

5. If they want to win in November
They need to stop treating us like infants feeding us milk. We are grown adults who need meat. They need to tell us what they are going to do for us despite what obstruction lies in the way. They need to keep their word and do some of the hard things no matter what. And as far as reaching a hand across the isle, for what? To get it cut off? I don't think so. If they have the majority and just by some disgruntled citizens, gain more seats, the Democratic Party should put forth a progressive agenda with definite debt reduction measures.

6. I will bet you a bundle that Murkowsi R Alaska, wishes she had
spent some money and gone ugly. Instead she stayed
positive running on her record which had been good for
Alaska. The mail in votes have not been counted.
This is her only prayer against the TeaParty Candidate.

Our Party had better get a strong message. Starting
out they had better spell out in detail how and why
the Republican Plan will make things worse. Just saying
we do not want to go back is lame. You have to show
we understand economics and why Conservative Economic
Fundamentalism( Free Market Principles) took us to the
Abyss. They had best be ready to slap down this tripe
"Stimulus did not work". Hit them between the eyes
with a 2x4. Your plan would have thrown the entire
Financial Industry(Wall St) out of work, the Auto
Industry collapse meant every car dealership in US
would have closed, every restaurant, gas station, 7/11
who serviced the Auto Cos, Dealerships etc. Millions
more would have been out of work. It is just as
legitimate to make this case as it for the Righties
to say--Let them fail or their lame--we do not know.

Since when is acceptable for true leaders to simply
do nothing because something cannot be proved.

If a surgeon has a person open on the operating table
and sees something strange, he sure as heck is not
going to close the patient and do nothing. He is
going to make the best educated guess and attend
to the patient.

The Democrats have never made the case for their actions.
They have done some good things and I dare say over
half the country does not even know.

Are they willing to say Free Market Fundamentalism
has failed and we are making the adjustments to
make it work? Or are they too fearful of Wall Street
to fight for the Working Class.

7. I Don't Think They Want To Win!!!!
Edited on Wed Aug-25-10 07:36 PM by meowomon
I think the moneyed class of the Democrats (our fearless leaders) like the status quo and are moving the middle to the right. They like the division because it makes for better donations to their "war chests". We are so screwed.

12. Personally I would love to see the ad about the 9-11 first responders
You say: "For example show a 9-11 first responder with health problems due to 9-11 and tell the people that the Repuke voted to deny health care for him."

That would be one heck of an ad.
