GOP to achieve wet dream: Cut SS and make the Democrats responsible for it.

I sure that most of the GOP has been dreaming of cutting SS for sometime but as the 3rd rail of politics they couldn't allow themselves more than the fantasy. But I doubt that ANY Republican ever dreamed they could actually achieve cuts in SS -AND- get the Democrats to take the fall for it.

They must be wetting themselves with excitement.

1. The cat food commission has no power to legislate, it only advises.

They can only make recommendations.

Once they make those recommendations, a bill must be written and passed by the House and Senate, then signed by the President.

Claiming they are gong to cut Social Security is a bit premature.

I mean, it's not like the Dems are going to take their conservative-leaning recommendations and say "your conservative recommendations are bollocks, we're crafting a *liberal* bill that's right for real Americans!"

They'll start with the pre-compromised recommendation, and it will get worse from there. Just like HCR.

7. Anyone who thinks the commission's recommendations to gut social security

won't become law is probably in for a most rude awakening for all the handwriting on the wall and the tea leaves loudly scream that it is already a done deal by design: the only possible thing that could derail this speeding train imo is for the administration to come to the conclusion that this one issue would most probably spell defeat for key Democrats at the polls in 2012. :P
