Does Toyota manufacture Pontiac Vibe? Just heard the news about the
latest Toyota recall, and they said some Pontiac Vibes are being recalled as well. I don't know if it's because Pontiac used the same supplier/manufacturer of the part that caused this recall, or if Toyota manufacturers the Vibe.

Anybody know?

On a side note -- boy, there sure seem to be a LOT of Toyota recalls recently. It seems for years they were so reliable and trouble-free for the most part.

7. I think ALL cars look "Japanese" since the late 80's. Even the standbys that
were so distinctive looking -- Mercedes, BMW, Saab, Jaguar, finally succumbed. I was looking for a car in '90 and I kept bitching "everything looks like a damn Taurus!".

But this clears up my confusion -- I wasn't listening that closely and wasn't sure I'd heard correctly. Thanks! :hi:

9. And I've learned from the other replies that the Vibe is actually a Pontiac
version of the Matrix, that it's a joint GM/Toyota effort which explains what I heard.

10. It's the NUMMI plant that recently closed in California.
IIRC, the plant was purchased by Tesla, which is an interesting development.

11. Well Tesla is one of my favorite companies -- I love what they're doing and
of course have fantasies about their car! I wish them all the success in the world.

You're right, interesting development.

13. Seems to be a REALLY nice car. Drove one in Florida a couple of years back
a rental.

loved it
loved it
loved it.

When Pontiac went out, one local car dealer latched on to a whole bunch of them.
They seem to have sold rather quickly.
