Why so much about Mehlman?
Why so many hate threads about him? It is his own personal business that he is a gay guy, I don't get the hate. I think he should have just kept quiet after seeing all the hate threads about his announcement. Like I said it his own private business, I don't care what he does in his sexuality and I'm surprised to see so much talk about this.

6. "Where are they now?"
They're dead, Dave.

Remember that classic Larry Bud segment from the 80's-90's?

2. Nobody would give a shit about his orientation
If he hadn't spent so many years actively working to harm GLBT folk while being one himself. It's not about him being homosexual, it's about him being a hypocrite--and a dangerous one at that.

3. Really?
He organized anti-gay ballot initiatives and such while in the closet running GWB's campaign.

Nobody is fretting about what he sticks where.

The hate is because of the depth of craven hypocrisy involved.

He's a Judas Goat.

8. The Republican Party nominated itself as morality arbiter
ergo, when any of then come out, have affairs, or are arrested soliciting random sex in bathrooms, it is a big deal because it completely smacks of hypocrisy.

11. The short answer: Get some information on Mehlman's background
Because Mehlman was so aggressive in using gay-baiting and homophobic campaign tactics to further the political agenda of his masters and to line his own pocket, which makes him a world class hypocrite.

He made it his political business to interfere in the lives of so many gay men and women, some of whom paid for his political advancement with their lives. And now he's comfortably post-political, ensconced at a sinecure with KKR. Yes, I'm sure he'd love to live out his days in peace and integrity. But a lot of his victims, who aren't here anymore, don't have that luxury.
