Anyone here concerned about the extremists who may retake the Congress?

Seeing just how far right the GOP has gone, there is certain to be
several tea party reactionaries in congress after this fall's election.
Seeing how far right the GOP has gone, is anyone here concerned about what will happen should the GOP retake the congress?

That is why, even if we don't particularly like the Democratic candidates, we must work to get them elected or re-elected. An example is right here in Iowa. I am not enamored with Roxanne Conlin for U.S. Senate, but she is a far sight better than Grassley, who moves farther and farther to tea party status every day.

I completely respect your position. But lately I've been seeing things completely different.

I see the growth of the tea party as a sign the Republican party is self destructing. The Republicans have always had to put together some kind of a internal coalition to govern. I think the teabaggers are too extreme for coalitions.

Oh sure, a few will probably get elected, but I seriously see the Republican party as being on the verge of imploding. I have no idea what will fill that vacuum.

David Stockman, Reagan's own economic advisor, has repeatedly noted that "trickle down" is nothing but bullshit.

The American middle class was strongest when unions were strongest. Once Reagan the great mother fucker started dismantling unions, the middle class suffered from those policies.

The U.S. worker's salary has not kept pace with inflation for decades.

If you lived in western Europe, you would be better off if you're middle class because their citizens are not as fucking stupid as ones in America who believe in the gospel of supply-side jesus - in spite of evidence that this is a lie.

20. There are not enough republicans who will win

more than the 18 who are running for re-election. They need to take 10 of the 15 or so seats the Democrats have for re=election plus 10 more do you think they could take the senate heck no. And they need to retain all 215 or so ( I think they have that many) plus 39 more do you think they could. Heck no. If a couple of those extremist get in they would just be ignored.

for a majority. There are only 4 GOP held districts that are considered to be competitive, Democrats won all the other competitive seats in 2006 and 2008, the Republicans that weathered those storms are staying put. http://www.cookpolitical.com/">Charlie Cook thinks the House is probably gone, and his prediction of a 35-45 seat loss seems reasonable to me.

The Senate is a different story, although http://fivethirtyeight.blogs.nytimes.com/2010/08/25/new-forecast-shows-democrats-losing-6-to-7-senate-seats/">Nate Silver sees Democrats losing 6-7 seats, with a higher probably on the upside for losses, and a net gain of 10 needed for them to takeover the chamber. So it is going to be much closer. It would not surprise if there are 49 or 50 Republicans in the 112th Congress, that there will be tremendous pressure on Lieberman/Nelson to flip to the GOP in anticipation of their 2012 reelection bids, however this may be less likely in light of the experience of Arlen Specter.

If you really don't think the majority is on the line in this election, then you should probably remove your head.
