The Greatest Irony of the "Ground Zero Mosque" Controversy

posted by sulmagnificent

Is that the cultural center is the epitome of the biggest enemy of Al Qaeda, the radical group of which those extremist hijackers belonged to. The Cordaba house represents moderate Islam. Opposed to what many believe, the relationship between the U.S and the greater Middle East that we have been witnessing for the past two decades is not a "clash of civilizations" or "the incompatibility of Islam with the liberal ideas of the west". What we are experiencing is the real battle involving Islam, and that is within. The cultural center will hopefully be the biggest example of moderate Islam, the type of Islam that is fighting the ongoing war against ignorance, misinformation and hatred that is radical Islam. The Imam is ironically a Sufi Muslim. Sufism is the most moderate form of Islam that exists. Sufi Muslims are kinda like Middle Eastern hippies without the drugs.

By opposing the mosque they are helping the terrorists that is the irony I have to point to. The cultural center is Hamas's, Al Qaeda's and Hezbollahs biggest enemy since the spread of moderate Islam and spreading knowledge of the truth about Islam would injure these terrorists. The very fact that there is a controversy is ridiculous. The people who suffered that terrible day in 9/11 should hope that something like this never happens to any else ever again. It is by supporting moderate Islam that you would be able to do this not by opposing moderate Islam. Al Qaeda has shown its hatred towards moderate Islam by bombing a Sufi mosque during prayer. Fareed Zakara points this out perfectly on CNN.

(The video can be watched at the link below, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tyxVl_ATkIU">here on YouTube and http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=385x497869">in the videos forum)

Supporting moderate Muslims around the world is the best way to hit the terrorists where it hurts. If the location seems offensive to you then it simply shows you are ignorant and need to be educated about the situation that is taking place in the Middle East. We Americans need to fight this ignorance its for the good of everyone whether you are an Atheist, a Muslim, a Jew, or a Christian. I think one of the biggest steps is that cultural center and this controversy is trying to ruin it.

ETA I originally uploaded this video after seeing it on Fareed's show on Sunday to try and spread the truth about what's going on and hopefully wake some people up.

Well, one of the comments under the video on YouTube makes me feel that this was not in vain...

@booley I can understand why you would want to simplify the situation the way you just did, but that is not true. I was against the Mosque before I saw this on CNN, but now I support it. People who are opposed to it might change their minds if they are made aware of this information. I know I did, calling people terrorists doesn't build bridges, but neither does calling them ignorant or bigoted.

3. Yep
Even Bush could figure this one out. He enlisted the help of Iman Rauf after 9/11 to reach out to moderate Muslims. People who are protesting the mosque are unwittingly doing Bin Laden's dirty work.

4. Yes, it's a cultural center and not a mosque, and yes opposition to it does help the terrorists.
At this point being rational is far too much to ask of the mouth foaming right wingers and teahadists.

9. Oh excellent, Turborama. Getting the truth out even if it
is to one person at a time. That comment makes the effort so worthwhile. :applause:

10. According to the stats

There's 6,000 views (even though the view count itself says just over 5,000) so far and not one negative comment or "unlike". If you look at the graph, since it was added to TYT the viewing figures have swiftly increased (you have to click on the button with the view count to get the drop down graph which says 6,000 and gives more details): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tyxVl_ATkIU

To be honest, I was and have been expecting a massive swarm of Islamaphobic trolls but, so far, not one has turned up.
