4th Grader Suspended For Sniffing Hand Sanitizer

A local 4th grader was suspended from school, after officials say he was caught sniffing hand sanitizer.

The mother says she tried to talk to the principal, who said the suspension was going to stand and would also be a mark on his record.

Matteo Meier, a 4th grader at Dingle Elementary, is feeling pummeled by a school punishment.

"I got in trouble and I got suspended," he says.

Matteo says friends at school told him to sniff hand sanitizer. He's done it occasionally since last year, but yesterday he got caught by a teacher who gave him a suspension and a scare.

The kid that was seated beside me in 3rd grade that ate paste would be doing life in prison after being tried as an adult under the "three strikes" laws if it hadn't all happened back in 1972. on edit: good thing this bullshit wasn't in effect when I was in school. Myself and most of my classmates would have been suspended for snorting mimeograph paper.

These rules allow the administration to play stupid and claim that they have no choice but to enforce the rules.

To get a buzz from it, it would need to be ingested. I can't imagine it's possible to really get a buzz by inhaling alcohol vapors. Or if it is, it would need to be done an extremely long time. How long do you think it would take to huff a few ounces of alcohol?
