We are safe inside our room at a hotel just outside DC. We drove up to this rather posh place (got a real deal on line!)and pulled our little Prius in among the Escalades and Hummers and extra-large pickups. The license plates were from as close as Maryland and as far away as---Alaska!
We walked into the lobby wearing Obama caps and black T-shirts with W's smirking face and "Worst President Ever" emblazoned on them. You'd have thought we had too many heads or were dragging a dead body behind us from all the pearl clutching and clucking that went on. My wife and I have this little thing we do: if it's obvious we have REALLY pissed off a "Tea Party Patriot" (sn-r-r-r-k-k!!!) we smile and high five each other. If this seems to further elevate their blood pressure, we give each other a "terrorist fist bump"! We did a few of those today.
Tomorrow, we're off first to the Mall, just to let a few Beckerheads know that there ARE people who realize how pathetic they and their idol are. Then, we hop on the Metro and do the Reclaim the Dream March at Dunlap High School.
Are we scared? Yes, to be truthful. But, we are Americans, it is also our Mall and, so far, most of the Constitution still applies. We just aren't willing to stay away simply because of a few bullies. All we plan to do is display our sign for a while, hopefully in the vicinity of some large cops. Surely, that is not too much to ask.
Hope to report tomorrow evening as to how the day went.
