America is better than Glenn Beck.
For all of his celebrity, Mr. Beck is an ignorant, divisive, pathetic figure. On the anniversary of the great 1963 March on Washington he will stand in the shadows of giants — Abraham Lincoln and the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Who do you think is more representative of this nation?

1. Pretty pathetic considering how much money and media time...
went into the build-up.

A few thousand at best.

Fox will need a lot of post-production on this one.

3. They've misplaced their photos of the 1997 Promise Keepers rally
They'll get all fair and balanced about it after they find them.

6. Brian Lamb is running Heritage Foundation cr@p on BookTV
for the occasion and I just heard Terence Jeffrey, hack, claim that the Tea Party IS like the founders. The hand of the propagandists couldn't be more visible if it popped out of a box like Thing.

4. It's a bust.
I've watched for about fforty minutes on CSPAN, including Palin's speech.

There is a distinct lack of energy, it is boring ...

The 'message' is clearly Christian (and Mormon for Beck, I suppose) and very pro-war.

This is the worst of ultra-nationalism, a fusion of conservative religion with militarism.

And it is kind of funny, at least from the TV pictures, the crowd is white, white, white -- the only 'color' is on the stage in the form of selected speakers. It is obvious that Beck had to pluck a native American and the few African-American sycophants of his in the whole nation and get them to the podium to demonstrate any diversity whatsoever.

But, no matter what the attendance numbers, this thing is so boring that I would feel cheated if I had actually driven more that five miles to be there.
