Basically, this is what being a conservative today is about...

You have the hands over your ears:
We can deregulate the corporations, they will police themselves this time. They will!
We can give more tax cuts to the wealthy, they will create jobs this time. They will!
We can privatize our infrastructure and services, the corporations will take good care of them. They will!

And you have the blankets over your face:
You have to be afraid of the liberals, of the gays, of the atheists, of the feminists, of the immigrants, of the Muslims, of the COMMUNISTS!!!, of the pagans, of change, of the future, of the government, of stem cells, etc.

Maybe this is why there are so many conservatives, it's so easy to be one. All you have to do is believe that the wealthy and the corporations will actually take care of you and be afraid of everyone and everything you don't understand or is one iota different than you.
