WSJ Survey: Halliburton Has Worst Corporate Reputation
http://money.cnn.com/2007/01/31/news/companies/bc.reputations.microsoft.reut/index.htm?source=yahoo_quote

"Halliburton was bottom of the list, with respondents giving it the lowest ratings for ethical standards and trust, the Journal reported.

Halliburton told the paper that the report represents a small percentage of the general public, and that its customers, shareholders and employees are happy with services, including its commitment to ethics and business integrity."

*****************************************************************************

That "commitment to ethics and business integrity" is what led to the cover-up of bribes made in Nigeria and elsewhere: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=david+smith+halliburton+nigeria

That "commitment to ethics and business integrity" is why Halliburton whistleblowers have come forward with evidence that the company is defrauding the US Government and American taxpayers:

http://www.halliburtonwatch.org/

http://www.halwhistleblowers.org/

That "commitment to ethics and business integrity" is why Halliburton and other BushCo. subsidiaries tried desperately to shut down the work of the Special Inspector General for Iraq Reconstruction, just before the mid-terms (only to find bi-partisan support existed to restore it, after the mid-terms):

http://www.sigir.mil/

http://www.sigir.mil/about/law.aspx

*****************************************************************************

Just remember: Dick Cheney didn't invent his spin machine once he became Vice President.

The media manipulation tactics that Cathy Martin described last week on the witness stand?

http://news.google.com/news?hl=en&ned=us&q=media+manipulation+cheney

The talking points given to the official spokesperson?

http://www.usdoj.gov/usao/iln/osc/exhibits/0125/GX54001.PDF

Those selfsame tactics were in play when I received those mis-directed e-mails at Halliburton, detailing how to spin the violations of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and tax evasion:

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&ned=us&ie=UTF-8&q=halliburton+nigeria+david+smith&sa=N&tab=nw

So when Cathy Mann at Halliburton says that my claims are "completely without merit," what she really means is, "Americans still buy this line from the company with the worst reputation, and they don't believe we still follow Cheney's line of thinking on how to manipulate the media, right?"

; )

P.S. Mark your calendars for next Tuesday: http://oversight.house.gov/story.asp?ID=1156&Issue=Iraq+Reconstruction

2. First Sledgehammer to the Berlin Wall
It may not look like it could make much of a dent, but when Waxman's gavel comes down next Tuesday on the issue of Iraq reconstruction, it's going to feel like a wrecking ball for the war profiteers.

3. Human Rights Watch Report on Effects of Nigerian Corruption

That's what Western companies like Halliburton are fueling.

5. Cheney's Contagious Cover-up Culture
I suspect some major news outlets may be planning "bigger picture" segments to coincide with when he takes the stand.

6. Larry Johnson on Stephanie Miller today RE: Libby trial
mentioned Cheney and how he thinks the Libby lawyers may want to rethink putting Cheney on the stand

The testimony is not only showing that Libby lied, but also reveals a deeper involvment by Cheney in the leak

8. Prosecution Might Call Him Then...
... arguing that the defense can hardly claim "surprise," since Cheney was on their list.
