Hey, cops. Make them face the camera. Don't let them smile.
Why do they let celebrities get away with 'mugshots' like this?

And then there was the bugman:

2. Wow. She looks great in that photo.
It's like, for once, she wasn't trying to look hot... and she took a much prettier picture as a result.

One might say she wasn't "mugging" for the camera, but... technically, I suppose she was.

4. she is a very good looking woman
I don't quite understand the anger that surfaces from people after celebrity drug busts. How about we just legalize drugs and let people live their own lives?

5. Because a drug bust, for a celebrity, means what amounts to a financial slap on the wrist.
That same "slap on the wrist", for someone working 40 a week and barely getting by, often means losing one's home, kids, job, etc.

The penalties are "the same", but the effects are vastly different.

3. How Do You Get Them Not to Smile, Though?
Edited on Sun Aug-29-10 11:50 PM by Anakin Skywalker
If you want a frowny face, that would require a pre-photo beat down with the nightstick, and somehow I don't think that would be used on these privileged clowns!

Besides, if their photos show black eyes and stuff, they would just complain about police brutality. ;) Ha ha!

10. Treat them like an ordinary, guilty-until-proven-innocent *poor* person.
There's a reason why the very rich can smile in mugshots. They are probably receiving pedicures, or oral gratification, just out of frame.

6. Hell if thats bad
You should see the one they took of me shortly after returning home from the 'Nam and they busted me with a few seeds
by the time I got through using up about half of their cards trying to get a non smudged finger print I had the whole place in stitches, me included. Of course I had a few reds coursing through my veins and a give a shit 'tude. Of course that was another time when things weren't so fascist as it is today.

8. So, you think the mug shot should make them look guilty of something?
Edited on Mon Aug-30-10 08:03 AM by TexasObserver
They're accused of something. Accused. Do you know the difference between being accused by police of something and being guilty of something? They can arrest you for anything, and they don't need any basis for doing so.

9. Perhaps you should ask why we have mugshots at all for arrestees
The complaint that celebrities are not abused enough is gross.

Why is a person arrested (not convicted of anything) photographed in an unflattering way and the photo distributed to the public and media?

Why?

Why is the photo released?

To prejudice the public against anyone who gets arrested.

The is no other reason for releasing the photo.

By what right do the police get to inflict this punishment of publishing a nasty mug-shot?

So your approach to something that is clearly wrong is to complain that celebrities don't feel the full brunt of it...

WTF?

The big outrage isn't that celebrities "get away" with mitigating some of the harm arising from a corrupt practice, it is the corrupt practice.
