Excellent response! The Bachmann spot is disgusting. A still of MB from Glamour Shots opens the thing, with the "I'm MB and I approved this message." Then cuts to a 20-something 'fact checker' who promises to keep us informed... It's literally a parody of itself...

10. Ventura appealed to

young college students, and campaigned heavily on campus. The idea of electing a wrestler appeals to a particular demographic. Also, there is an independent streak in many voters. And since he ran as an independent, he was only elected by a bit over a third of the population.

Bachmann's district was gerrymandered to make sure it leaned republican. And the independent streak had an impact on this race too. Bachmann has never gotten 50% of the vote, but since the independent's persist in running a candidate, she hasn't needed to get 50% of the vote.

Tarryl Clark is the strongest candidate the Democrat's have run.

In any case, it is widely believed her district will be eliminated after the census becomes public.

11. And remember Ventura won in a 3 way race with 35% of the vote

the remaing 65% was split pretty evenly between Normie Coleman & Hubert "Skip" Humphrey ,III (HHHIII).

At least we can say a big majority of Minnesotans did not vote for Ventura.

BTW, it is widely thought that Bachmann's district will disappear only if Minnesota loses a Congressional seat. It is the district that borders more of the other CDs so it is the logical one to carve up. However, there is some hope that, depending on populaton shifts, it might be that Stillwater, where Bachmann lives, could wind up in McCollum's CD4. And, if I recall correctly, Bachmann did not carry Stillwater in 2008 (or if she did, it was not by much).

13. I was on a treadmill at the gym between 5 & 6 today

and I saw both ads on the 3 network affiliates (4,5,11) during that time. (Sometimes having all those TVs across the front of the room can be handy). I can't remember for sure, but I think they ran during both the local 5 o'clock broadcasts & the 5:30 national newscasts.

I switched audio channels whenever Bachmann or Emmer came on.
