http://www.mediaite.com/online/chris-matthews-unacceptable-that-glenn-beck-was-sharing-company-with-hagee-at-rally/If nothing else Glenn Beck has given the cablers something to talk about for the rest of the week. On Day Two of Restoring Honor coverage Chris Matthews is turning the spotlight on fundamentalist pastor John Hagee who was part of the ‘black-robed regiment’ Beck brought on stage at the end of his remarks on Saturday.
Hagee has gotten himself into hot water in recent years for controversial remarks he’s made about Catholicism; after he endorsed McCain in 2008 he was forced to issue a statement of regret for those remarks. He also asserted in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina that the storm was “in fact, the judgment of God against the city of New Orleans…New Orleans had a level of sin that was offensive to God.”
So what was Hagee doing at the foot of the Lincoln Memorial with Beck (on the anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, no less)? Salon’s Joan Walsh thinks Beck picked Hagee out of “ignorance or more likely he simply doesn’t care.”
Chris Matthews was far more harsh saying “I thought it was unacceptable to share company with people who make these comments about other religions.”
