Zachary John-Richard Stockert, 26, of Olympia, Wash., is being held in the Clackamas County Jail on suspicion of driving under the influence of intoxicants and of possessing and dealing drugs. He is set to be arraigned today in Clackamas County Circuit Court. Meanwhile, bail is set at $47,500.
Lt. Gregg Hastings, Oregon State Police spokesman, said a trooper spotted a driver on U.S. 26 west of Sandy near Kelso Road around noon, using a cellphone while driving. When the trooper stopped the driver, he noticed signs of impairment and an "overwhelming odor of marijuana" coming from his vehicle.
Hastings said a check with state authorities Stockert's driving privileges earlier had been suspended Oregon. A subsequent investigation turned up two pounds of marijuana in two backpacks and a jar.
