Agent Orange, The Vietnam 'Gift', Is Gonna Cost The Veterans Administration Billions
unhappycamper note: Since the Pentagon has ‘requested’ that I only post one paragraph from articles on Army Times, and Airforce Times, I’ve decided to give ya’ll an unhappycamper summary of the article and a link to the OP. To keep in that same (new) tradition, I will also do the same for for articles on Navy Times, Marine Corps Times, stripes.com and military.com.

To read the article in the military's own words, you will need to click the link.

I didn't realize that the Pentagon/MIC could restrict my First Amendment rights as well as morph the Copyright Act of 1976, 17 U.S.C. § 107 with zero, zip, nada Congressional approval. (NOTE: I am going to revise the preceding sentence.) It sure is beginning to smell like fascism.[br />
unhappycamper summary of this article: Again, this is a very simple story. Dow Chemical and the DoD poisoned Vietnamese, Vietnam and American soldiers. We Vietnam veterans have been fighting the VA for almost 40 years trying to get them to at least acknowledge the harm Agent Orange does.

Barring any move by Congress to halt the inclusion of ischemic heart disease, Parkinson's disease, and several forms of leukemia into a list of presumptive illnesses linked to exposure to Agent Orange and other herbicides, more than 150,000 Vietnam veterans are expected to file for medical and disability payment benefits over the next 18 months, the Department of Veterans Affairs predicted today.

2. "Population Reduction"?
Funding cuts must be reversed.

GOP doesn't care what happens to the "little people".

A smaller population is more easily ruled.

3. Agent Orange is basically what gets sprayed on mutant farm crops
Edited on Wed Sep-01-10 05:52 AM by SpiralHawk
Same basic toxic chemical poison. When they buy & plant industrial AG mutant GMO seeds, its basically so they can spray 'weed killer' like Roundup all over the damn place - dealing death left and right, and harvesting only the mutant crops with the mutant genes.

Ptoooey.

4. A rose by any other name:
Up until the early 1970a, "Agent Orange" was used by NYSE&G (New York State Electric & Gas) to kill growth near its power lines. I can remember in the '60s, when they attempted to spray under the lines on my father's property. They literally ended up using a helicopter.

When the federal government changed the law, NYSE&G was left with large stock piles of "Agent Orange." Later that decade, I began work on a 130-acre "Super Fund" site near Sidney Center, NY. That would involve two decades of my time. Among other issues, there was a mysterious area where literally all plant growth was gone. Tests demonstrated that there were high levels of "Agent Orange" there.

Where did it come from? The EPA was not able to identify the source, until I found a NYSE&G employee who was willing to travel to DC to provide information to the USDoJ. He was among six employees who had taken the stock piles to that sites, and "disposed" of them. He was able to identify exactly where on the 130-acre site they were dumped.

My friend at Justice asked if I could get one of the other employees to confirm this. However, the other five had died of cancer.

8. Very true.
there are already reports coming out of Iraq of birth defects, especially in Fallujah.

And it's been grossly under reported here in the states that there has been the same type of defects born to soldiers who served over there.
