Bell-Boeing and McDonnell Douglas to Supply Flying Machines For UK Aircraft Carriers
unhappycamper note: Since the Pentagon has ‘requested’ that I only post one paragraph from articles on Army Times, and Airforce Times, I’ve decided to give ya’ll an unhappycamper summary of the article and a link to the OP. To keep in that same (new) tradition, I will also do the same for for articles on Navy Times, Marine Corps Times, stripes.com and military.com.

To read the article in the military's own words, you will need to click the link.

I didn't realize that the Pentagon/MIC could restrict my First Amendment rights as well as morph the Copyright Act of 1976, 17 U.S.C. § 107 with zero, zip, nada Congressional approval. (NOTE: I am going to revise the preceding sentence.) It sure is beginning to smell like fascism.[br />
unhappycamper summary of this article: Zonkers - spend bucks to build two aircraft carriers and you don't have enough money to put aircraft on them?

The $86 million dollar F/A-18 is a fine jet aircraft, but the $100 million dollar MV-22 Osprey? Come on Guys, I thought you were smarter than that.....

Britain's Conservative government, faced with enormous deficits, may launch its Queen Elizabeth class carriers without airplanes to put on them as it considers early retirement for its Harrier jump jets.

2. They're going to have to redesign the carrier to use F-18s.
No arresting gear was designed into her in the first place and I'm not so sure how well an F-18 will do off a ski jump.

3. Oh, it gets much better than that. Really. Really.
They built the carriers for a short takeoff aircraft, but couldn't make it work. Betting on the come and unwilling to back down from a humiliating and impossibly expensive decision, they ended up with carriers with no aircraft. So now they're not only shopping around, settling on the F35s, but the new carriers have to be fitted for electromagnetic catapults which none of the pilots or crew are trained to use.

It's so farcical that it can only be understood with a spoof. Until someone gets killed.

It's so good I think I'll post it in Political Videos
