Dear Campaign Managers: Can we retire the term "Money Bomb"?
It's lost its effect & everybody's strapped. Plus it's becoming really off-putting to me.

I wish the message was more for GOTV efforts than fundraising. I reject the premise that more money = higher turnout. Let's get some boots on the ground for our candidates. If we can win elections without raising the most cash, we'd be on the path to true election reform. it has to start with the voters. If we continue to play the fundraising game, the people we elect to office will have no incentive to reform elections, because - by definition - they already won the game so why would they change the rules?

1. Fundraising this month
GOTV in October. That's kind of how it works.

What's making this season so weird is that the GOP has overspent so early in the season, leaving its treasury severely depleted. They're gambling that an electorate with the collective attention span of a swarm of gnats will remember all the early lies they tried to hammer home and go like zombies to the polls in two months, disregarding all the opposing messages they hear between now and then.

What remains to be seen is whether or not the spineless DLC leadership will bother to counter all the crap. If they don't, then all the fundraising and GOTV effort in the world will be for nothing.
