I have seen clips, and they do not do the man justice.

His whole show is total insanity.

I have no idea how someone could mock him when he is so horrible that you cannot make him look worse by mocking him.

I almost think this the guy is not serious. I cannot believe he can be that insane.

11. I'm reading The Backlash by Will Bunch
Great read. He visited Glenn Beck fans, Oathkeepers, Knob Creek Machine Gun Shoot, Arizona, etc to interview the people in these movements. WOW. When he was visiting Beck fans in Delaware they actually thought McCain/Palin won the popular vote! They buy in to everything Beck says. He found a lot of the Beck watchers were older & out of work. Who else is home at 5PM to watch?

The book just came out yesterday & I highly recommend it if you want a glimpse of Tea Partiers, Beck fans, the misinformed, the bigots, etc.

18. Review of The Backlash & Trailer for Book
Review
“An exquisitely written expose of a frightening political force that is shaping our elections, our society and our world.” (David Sirota, New York Times bestselling author and nationally syndicated columnist )

“Always compelling, but often disturbing, The Backlash is an essential contribution to our understanding of what’s happening right now on the political scene and what we might expect in the years to come.” (David Brock, author of the best-selling Blinded by the Right: The Conscience of An Ex-Conservative )
Product Description
They Think Obama Isn't an American Citizen.
They Think Obama Wants to Put Americans in Concentration Camps.
They Think Obama Is the Anti-Christ.
This Isn't Just the Tea Party—Welcome to the Backlash.

In November 2008, the election of Barack Obama was supposed to usher in a new age of hope, optimism, and postpartisan politics. Instead it provoked unparalleled anger on the far right that eventually twisted important national discussions and pushed ideas from the conservative fringe into the mainstream media. In the ensuing months, countless pollsters and reporters have tried to understand the heart of this mob that appeared so suddenly, but none of them has successfully accounted for the hard-right movement's rapid growth or explained the hidden connections between its parts. Until now.

In this gripping exposÉ, Pulitzer Prize-winning reporter Will Bunch reveals the secrets behind the crusade against Obama, exploring how forces like radical militia groups, the Tea Party, pro-gun zealots, and Glenn Beck have combined old-fashioned populist outrage with digital-age phobias to produce a wave of resentment that many have ridden straight to the bank. Pulling back the curtain on the paranoid politics of a new generation, Bunch shows how events such as the election of America's first African-American president, the economic recession, the rise of social networking, and the phenomenon of Glenn Beck have created a dangerous political moment that poses legitimate risks to democracy in America.

From conspiracy theorists to secessionists, birthers to "independent" Tea Partiers, Bunch illuminates the ties among this new array of groups. Going beyond easy caricature, he strips away layers of rhetoric to reveal politicians like Paul Broun, who, as one of the most extreme members of Congress, works as hard for right-wing ideologues as he does for his economically battered constituents, and groups like the Oath Keepers, a fast-growing, ultraradical organization that spreads unsubstantiated fears of Obama confiscating guns and placing U.S. citizens in concentration camps. In addition, Bunch exposes the opportunists who have embraced a new brand of apocalyptic fearmongering, which has made them millions but has also led to the widespread paranoia that has helped fuel a rise in antigovernment violence.

The end result shows the true stakes of this political perfect storm, demonstrating how the anger of the far right now threatens to consume America. Powerful, shocking, and thought-provoking, The Backlash is a controversial look at where our democracy is—and where it may be heading.

6.  Beck has admitted that he is an "act."
He has no education, he has ADD, he was a drug addict, he is an alcoholic (recovering), and was
a "wacky morning D.J. that sad thing is some think he is a deep thinker who loves his country
and is looking out for the "little guy." But he is just an act for money.

Glenn Beck Calls Himself a 'Rodeo Clown'
Deep down, past the creepy post-apocalyptic conservative rhetoric like "we surround them" and
"you are not alone," who is Glenn Beck? "A rodeo clown," he told the New York Times

7. I read an extended interview with him (some Sunday magazine insert
in a newspaper from Chicago) and he said flat-out -- "I'm an entertainer."

He does this because entertaining people pays very good money. He has a huge suite of offices to prove it. (I wonder how much the Koch boys put in his pocket for the Yammerfest in DC)

From the article, I got the feeling he has no core beliefs whatsoever. Well, he believes in money, and in making more money. And as rich as he is now, and as vacuous as his schtick is, he must believe all people are idiots, or at least all those who watch him.

And on that one thing, I agree with him.

24. Rush Limpballs calls himself "an entertainer", too
I think it's supposed to be a "code word" for the diehards.

It's a signal that if the RW media stars DON'T call themselves "entertainers", they'll be open to "political prosecution" in some soon-to-be-coming "Socialist New Order".

These guys know what they're doing to the political landscape. They just don't give a shit. And besides, they'll have a shitload of money to escape with when society finally breaks down.

26. Limpballs and Bekkk remind me of the pathetic guys/?gals who sit
at their computers writing malicious, destructive computer viruses and then loosing them upon the world randomly without knowing who's going to get hurt --

A suicide bomber walking into a crowded marketplace is at least brave enough to look into the faces of the people he's going to kill or wound.

Limpballs and Bekkk seem to have some sort of blind contempt for everything decent about people. Or maybe it's just lack of any comprehension of what it means to be part of a human community, which enables them to not give a shit.

SOMETHING is seriously amiss in their neurologic wiring. imo they're one step away from sneaking poison into Tylenol bottles in the drugstore.

35. Tht's a good analogy
Hackers who write malicious code don't care about the trail of destruction they cause.

Only their bragging rights and maybe (if they're lucky), a cash payoff of some kind.

32. He said the same thing, flat out, on The View
It was quite a long time ago, but the women were hammering his ass because he'd gotten facts wrong. One asked him if a journalist/reporter like him should have taken more care to investigate facts first, and he said that wasn't what he was; that he was strictly an entertainer.

So his self proclaimed title has been out there for quite some time - and his devotees don't care one bit. It is just creepy to think that low IQ people are willing to pay to hang on to his every word as gospel, while he laughs in public to others about how he is just paid entertainment to keep them amused.

I'm pretty sure he goes home every night, puts his feet up on the coffee table, fires up a cigar, pours a scotch (even though he's a recovering alcoholic), and mocks his dumbass followers. Not to mention laughs all the way to the bank...

19. He had a slight bump in his ratings Monday
But by Tuesday his ratings were starting downward. His nadir was last year and since then he's lost audience. Down 12% overall & 17% of key demo advertiser covet (25-54). Their primetime lost 20-30%+

16. I still haven't watched.
I still have not brought myself to watch the G* B* show. I'm a bit of a scaredy-cat, and hearing his craziness is particularly frightening for me. From clips of his presentations alone, though, I think it's clear that he is a self-promoting actor.

It's pathetic that anyone would believe such a blatantly phony liar/bad actor (no real offense meant, I suppose, to the more gullible relatives of any DU'er :\).

I could only stand about 15 minutes but still it was insane. It also made me think that watching a minute or two clip is nowhere near the same as watching a decent chunk of the whole show. Words cannot express how disturbed I was the first time I watched it.
