He would have too! How would he defend not vetoing it?

1. I can't see a bill extending them getting that far. |

I can't imagine a Congress with such large Democratic majorities doing that. They can easily extend the rest of the tax cuts without 60 votes--if anything is fair game for reconciliation, this is. I imagine Brown (MA) or either of the Maine senators voting with the Democrats too.

A whole lot of low-income people are only taxed with regressive sales taxes--including gas tax---will those be cut?
No?
I didn't think so.
So, you all get cuts... we get crapped on.

3. That was my first thought too, BU it would also cause him to |
|
violate his promise NOT to increase any taxes on those making less than $250000. so it would put him in a bind either way!

6. Neither a vote for extension of tax cuts |
|
for those making under $250K, nor one that would extend the Dubya cuts for a year or two will make it. We will end up with a simple expiration of the Bush cuts, and that's not the worse thing that could happen to us.

and I'm sure they'd come up with some sort of excuse for capitulation. They always do.

9. Hard to tell, isn't it. And that's the problem. |

We need decisive action to prevent a catastrophe but we're left holding our breath just hoping he'll do the right thing but not knowing if he will. Somehow I don't think that's what he meant by "Hope" in his campaign.

18. If the wording on the bill is all or nothing he may just sign it. |
|
I would hope at least one Democratic Senator would filibuster though..
