"Artificial cow"voted the eighth most important university breakthrough of the last 60 years.
The Greenwich-based experts have made an "artificial cow" - which uses a scent to attract the disease-bearing flies.

The creation of an "artificial cow" that kills deadly flies in Africa has been named as one of the ten most important university discoveries by UK academics.

The device, developed at the University of Greenwich, south-east London, was voted the eighth most important university breakthrough of the last 60 years.

It replicates the smell of a cow, attracting the tsetse fly which is then killed. Tsetse flies spread the killer sleeping sickness.

The one-centimetre-long insect is responsible for spreading sleeping sickness, which kills 30,000 people and two million cattle every year.

They are now developing an artificial lizard that disease bearing flies use to spread
another dangerous african sickness.

1. Now, if they can invent an "artificial Republican" that attracts
Republicans and puts them into a deep sleep for 50 years or so, we can finally get something done in this country.

2. They need a Cash Cow that attracts them
Not a bad idea, I was thinking of the same lines when I read this story.

BTW
They are rating this invention as important as the discovery of DNA.
I just heard the news story on the BBC where they interviewed this guy
and the other diseases that can be helped by this.
