Gary Bauer: The media destroyed Dan Quayle because he was the Sarah Palin of that era
That is a paraphrase from the American Family Association, so I wonder what he actually said word for word.

But either way, very (unintentionally) funny.

1. Nah, as fucking stupid as Quayle is, he's still far smarter than Palin.
Edited on Thu Sep-02-10 07:35 AM by HopeHoops
I never thought I'd say something like that, but it is true.

On Edit: Hell, Palin even makes THE SHRUB look smart.

3. Nay. Quayle destroyed himself, just as Palin does. Twain said, "It's better to stay silent...

4. Dan Quayle makes Palin look like.....well, like Palin.
Quayle was a US Senator for 12 years. (He did not resign his job.) Quayle developed expertise in foreign affairs and was respected by world leaders. (There was a reason he was selected as VP, and it wasn't because he was "pretty" and "winky" and "trashy" like Palin.)

I remember Dan Quayle. I read an in-depth biography of Dan Quayle. $arah, you are no Dan Quayle.

6. Gary Bauer. The Munchkin Nutbag speaks!
A televised spelling bee between Quayle and Palin would be fun to watch.

7. remember Quayle actually ran in the 2000 primaries and lost to Shrub
I am sure in part to his rep as a dummy. It has to really gall him to see both Shrub and Palin get not only a free pass, but celebrated in many quarters for the being even stupider than he ever was. As noted above, Quayle actually showed interest in learning things he just was chosen way before he could have possibly been ready for prime time.

13. Actually, I think he was the first candidate for GW Bush's role.
Edited on Thu Sep-02-10 10:37 AM by Marr
You had Reagan, who was an empty-headed puppet, with a government run by Bush Sr. and his group. Then you had Bush Sr.'s administration, which obviously continued on the same path. After Bush Sr., I think they wanted to have another empty-headed puppet, run by Bush Sr.'s group-- which is why Quayle was his VP.

When Quayle was demolished, they needed another moron, and W was there.

17. "The American people would not want to know of any misquotes that Dan Quayle may or may not make."*
*acutal quote from Dan Quayle

There's a REASON Quayle was "destroyed" by the media. He WAS an idiot who had no business being in public office.
