Stupid People in America
I often listen to different radio stations switching between the stations as songs go on and off. This morning I was doing the same thing and heard two of the stupidest comments I have ever heard. First, one of the djs claimed that all women watch the Super Bowl because they have too or because they want to watch the commercials. Mainly this dj was arguing that women are forced by their husbands to watch the game or they feel obligated to watch the game because of their husbands. The other dj, although he at least allowed women to call in to tell whether they watch the game because they want to or their husbands force them, seemed to be agree with the other dj and stated that his wife, mother-in-law, and I think his mother only watch the Super Bowl because they have too. The second dj went on to ask what the rest of the world would be doing on Super Bowl night and the the rest of the world really did not have anything to do that night.

I might have taken these comments too seriously, but I think the comment were extremely stupid and egocentric, especially the comment about the rest of the world having nothing to do on Super Bowl night. In terms of the women comment I know many women who watch the Super Bowl because they want to and just like the game. Concerning the comment about the rest of the world what made me so upset about the comment is that fact that only about 10 million people watch the Super Bowl. On the other hand about one billion people watch soccer. In addition, this is only the 41th Super Bowl. There are societies that are thousands of years old. Of course they have something to do on Super Bowl night.

1. My wife likes football.
Not as much as she likes baseball, but she's been a Bears fan since she was about three years old. Frankly, I don't like the Bears much, and don't really care about the Colts, so I have only a passing interest in this year's game. My wife, on the other hand, will be passionately rooting for the Bears. I couldn't miss watching this game if I wanted to -- because of her interest, not mine.

2. I know women who are the football fanatics in the family
and their husbands are only in it for the chips and beer.

The Stupor, er Super Bowl is watched worldwide. I have no idea what other cultures get out of it. In fact, I don't know what our culture gets out of it. I just know that they do.

The audience is in the hundreds of millions worldwide.
