Poll: Clear GOP advantage ahead of midterms....bullshit
the republicans offer nothing...i don't buy it. remember 2006 when the polls & pundits told us we couldn't win the house and never the senate? we won both.

A combination of sky-high GOP enthusiasm, a deep sense of pessimism about the country’s direction and dissatisfaction with President Barack Obama's stewardship of the economy has given Republicans a clear advantage heading into the November midterm elections, according to the latest NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll.

With the Labor Day holiday marking the traditional starting point of the campaign season, Republicans have a nine-point edge among those considered likely voters, plus a near 20-point lead among those expressing the highest amount of interest in the midterms.

In addition, six in 10 believe the country is on the wrong track; nearly two-thirds think the nation is in a state of decline; and a similar number aren't confident that their children’s generation will enjoy a better life.

Absolutely, and they've dropped how the GOP is splintered because of the tea baggers. It's one big
irresponsible hoax on Americans.

4. Yesterday, for about 4 hours, there was a poll up on CNN's main page
asking which party you prefer in the upcoming election. The last time I looked at it, Dems were ahead 57% to 43% and then it disappeared. Struck me as odd since many of their front page polls sit there for days on end.

6. Wall Street Journal = Rupert Murdoch (Faux News)
Can the Wall Street Journal really be considered media today? We know what Murdoch has done at Faux Noise, basically admitted it's propaganda to help promote the Republicon causes. The WSJ is likely in that same category now, and can't be trusted. At all.

8. The Problem Are Democrats Offer Less...
You are right, the GOOP offers nothing...a return to the disastrous self-serving "policies" (corruption) that destroyed this country is so many ways. Their advantage is being totally out of power they can openly criticize without having to be held accountable...even less than they were in the past. They left this administration with a massive mess that has overwhelmed them and left us with half measures that aren't being perceieved as working.

The problem is more fundamental...it's the sad truth that Democrats rarely give people a reason to vote FOR them as much as it's a vote against the rushpublicans. This accounts for the gains in '06 and '08 as well as the building frustration with President Obama as so many people built in their own causes and agendas in the simple word "hope". Nearly two years later and words aren't holding up...and the GOOP has been able to frame most the debates and thus make this election a referendum on this Administration and its inability to deliver the "hope". It's a no-win game for Democrats and many are ttying to run from rather than stand up to the onslaught.

Elections generally boil down to two things. First is turn-out...the party that energizes its base and organizes will have a big advantage. Second is how voters are feeling about their lot in life as their in that voting booth. If they see things going bad, they are likely to vote against the party in power. As is stands right now, the mojo works against the Democrats and as the meme takes stronger hold they are looking weaker and weaker. Sorry...just the way I see it...

had the Republican scripts on hand even before that.I just dont believe all this BS..It will be close but I believe Democrats will hang on to the majority..They have the advantage with campaign funding.

Edited on Tue Sep-07-10 10:56 AM by Stuart G
Some pukes have been in a long time in some places too..
.Some Dems will beat those pukes. Good chance.. That will mean that to overtake Congress, the pukes will need even more than the 32 they are talking about. We are going to win some too. So, even thought he media and the polls show one thing, that is 50 days away. In Illinois..Dan Seals has a very good chance against a Tea Bagger..as do other candidates around the country.. It ain't over yet, as they say.

9. The RepubliCONS will not win majorities in either House or Senate.
The Democrats will have the majority in both.

10. The media has become America's biggest enemy. Pushing to elect
those that drove us into this recession/depression - especially with what the GOP's done in the last two years is horribly irresponsible. They are supposed to be watchdogs - but the only thing they watch out for is themselves and the pepetual goal of controversy to bring in money. Make fools out of them - get the vote out.

17. That is why the Democrats better go on the attack. All they need to do is read the repuke platform
to show where the repukes stand.

They are against Unions, social security, medicare, the right to privacy, regulation, and so many other things that the Democrats hardly mention

Isn't it about time

16. Unless Democrats come out and attack repukes by name they will do badly
Edited on Tue Sep-07-10 08:28 AM by still_one
For years the repukes have not been timid in their attacks on Democrats, calling them everything from unpatriotic to socialists. Democrats have allowed the repukes to control the talking points, and it is about time that changed. One speech won't do it either. They have to come out on the attack EVERYDAY

The republican plan since reagan has been to destroy unions, and social security and medicare. They were against extending unemployment benefits, helping American car companies, even though MORE jobs would have been hurt, and have stood against tax breaks for small businesses

They do NOT believe in due process, and believe that because of a person's color they should be assumed to be illegal. They are against the right to privacy, and are against regulation which is what helped led us into the financial crisis

Unless the Democrats go on the attack we are in trouble

21. The Democrats are in big trouble..
that kind of advantage, should it show up on election day, will translate into a loss of Congress. I don't see that there's much they can do about it at this point either, because most of the dissatisfaction is economy based..

25. Yep..
don't see what can be done to improve the economy quickly though. It's too late for that. I think this election is pretty much set in stone. The House is lost, the only question is the Senate, which will be determined by the Murray and Boxer races.

23. Yes, that makes PERFECT sense. Put the people who GATEKEPT the looting BACK in control.
I'm sure the American people really want to go back to the Gingrich/Dole 90s of obstruction, stonewalling and ineffectiveness. And have an asshat fuckweasel like John Boehoehoehoehoehner as Speaker.

If they want that, then they're going to get the very America they deserve.

Edited on Tue Sep-07-10 11:17 AM by HughBeaumont
. . . how fine is the line that separates "Short Memory" and "Hateful Foot-Shooting Dumbass"??

Anyone with a brain stem should know by now that economic Hindenburgs like 2008 take YEARS to completely turn around and cure, not MONTHS (even moreso when your country's gone broke thanks to the Failure Fratster).

Whether they "want to hear" that or not, maybe it will teach this dumb country to be a lot WISER for the ware. America is going to pay a grave price for being sloooooooooooow learners, MARK it.

33. Once people actually start paying attention
And hear the Republicans "plans", or lack thereof, my hope is that they will wake up from this vote the bums out mentatlity, and realize that obstructionism and lack of anything but "uhhhh more tax cuts?!" is really all the Repugs have.

But of course the majority of Americans don't really follow it all that closely and will just get whatever Faux News or whatever cable channel they accidentally turned to tells them.

34. your analysis is off...
When a Major League Baseball team starts off the season by going 5-14 the coach gets the boot... possibly even the whole staff. Does the Coach get the boot because the guy they'll bring in from the Minor League team is expected to perform better?

NO!!!

When you preside over "fail" you lose your job. It doesn't matter if last years General Manager traded all your best players, it doesn't matter if the salary cap is restricting your axquisitions... and it doesn't matter how BAD the coach was before you.

The owners of the team and the fans of the team will demand change... partially as a hope for a change and partially as a punishment.

So does ObamaCo "deserve" the November bloodbath? Most intelligent observers say no... but that IS the way it is. November WILL be messy... that's the truth and not a damn thing will come out of DC until 2013.
