The Federal Govt. is clinging VERY tightly to marijuana prohibition

It doesn't matter about its origins, its targets or even its consequences... The Evil Weed must remain EVIL.

If they have to lock up everyone and run roughshod over local jurisdictions in order to protect the status quo, so be it.

There are some policies that persist in the federal government, regardless of who's running that government.

It's going to be a long, long time before some who is committed to reversing prohibition gets elected to run things and finally enact some common sense drug laws in America.

So until then, the Europeans will continue to set a more sensible example... and we'll continue to shoot ourselves in the foot.

It's ingrained deeply in the law and the body politic.

An entire sea change is going to have to occur before any political leaders are elected to repeal prohibition... It's going to have to start with the, no pun intended, grass roots.

The DEA is really holding onto marijuana prohibition, that's certain. They love the extra funding that comes from seizing estates based on false charges.

It's nice to know that Big Pharma still has its grubby hooks in the DEA and directs what is "bad" and what's "good" about the use of cannabis.

4. Europeans set many sensible examples while we shoot ourselves in

the foot on many things. The US is a bunch of slow learners IMO and getting worse. US is not prepared to be a world leader in the 21st century. In the US we try to solve most problems by laws and punitive measures, and often fail with our war on this or that. Prisons are also a big business in the US, I'm not surprised.
