Whitman Gets Endorsement From GOP Primary Opponent

SACRAMENTO (AP) ― The candidate Meg Whitman defeated in the Republican gubernatorial primary earlier this year has finally endorsed her.

State Insurance Commissioner Steve Poizner announced his support for the Republican nominee on Tuesday, three months after he lost the primary.

In a statement released by the California Republican Party, Poizner said he is backing the entire GOP ticket in November. He says it will force government to downsize and stimulate business.

Poizner did not offer any praise for Whitman, whom he accused of being a "Republican in name only" during their primary contest. The billionaire former eBay chief executive outspent Poizner more than 3-to-1.

1. Poizner accused NutMeg of being a RINO?

Poizner ran for an Assembly seat up here. He outspent the Dem by NutMeg-like proportions, and still lost. Back then, Poizner was the one trying to move to the left. Then when he ran for statewide office, he saw his best opportunity was to run to NutMeg's right on issues like immigration.

2. If she only outspent him by 3 to 1
He still spent an obscene amount of money for a primary campaign and one that he ultimately lost.

Right now he looks like the second biggest loser in this years CA political race.

3. One of Whitman's spokespeople
just came back to work here part-time. Darrel Ng was a full-time PR guy in our Communications Office before he left to work for NutMeg about a month ago. Now he's working for both. Is it a coincidence that Poizner came out in support right after he came back? I sent an email to the Brown campaign letting them know of the potential conflict of interest. I don't want that POS working here as long as he's a paid shill for TWhitman. He's trashing us big time.
