News coverage of Bristol Palin speech banned
A Louisville home for single mothers is not allowing media coverage of its fundraiser on Wednesday evening featuring a speech by Bristol Palin, the single mother and daughter of former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin.

Joan Smith, executive director of The Lifehouse, said the organization made the decision to keep the fundraiser low-key.

The Lifehouse provides housing for single mothers, and Smith said it chose Bristol Palin as a speaker because of her own experience as a teenage single mother. The Lifehouse is paying a $14,000 fee to Palin's booking representative, which includes commission and other expenses along with the portion of the fee Palin keeps.

1. Dress up somebody as a re-virginized Christian single mother, give her a cel cam
Have her ask tough questions then put the footage on YouTube.

2. This is media coverage (courier journal) of the ban on media coverage
the ban doesn't seem to be going too well.

4. $14K can buy a lot of diapers and formula
But I guess it best given to someone who sets a not so excellent example to young mothers.

5. I thought those right wingers were all for free speech to go along with
a heaping plate full of family values.

Sounds more like repressive commies to me. Forty years ago we had to go to sea and chase them damn commies around in submarines from Havana to Murmansk. Nowadays, seems like they can be found anywhere we find the the Palins'.

I curse the thought of McCain daily for foisting the Quitta from Wasilla on us.

6. A non-profit pays a teenager $14K to "speak"
And they want to keep it low-key? Yeah, right. The non-profits that I volunteer for would crawl on their hands and knees over shattered glass for major media coverage of a fundraiser. What sort of place is The Lifehouse that they would slam the door on media coverage?

7. "Religious based" anti-abortion maternity home and services.

The fee will probably bring some scrutiny, though.

9. The center doth protest too much, methinks
And by doing so, they get exquisite coverage. A clever PR director doth dwelleth there.

.... A home for unwed mothers pays an Alaskan unwed mother $14k.

How much do they pay their home grown unwed mothers?

12. I guess they're flying her in because they couldn't find any unwed moms...
anywhere else.

No high school drop outs working at Arby's and living with their mothers so they have someone to take care of the baby when they are at work.

You know. Someone who could really use 14K.

16. Yes, I imagine the single mother who is a former vice-presidential candidate's kid
Edited on Wed Sep-08-10 01:13 AM by HEyHEY
Has the EXACT same single mother experience as a women from a Louisville ghetto whose partner was killed in Iraq.

This is very odd, why Bristol? Why "low-key." Why, if you wanted something to be low-key would you invite an obviously controversial speaker? Why would you then censor her message? What the fuck?!
