MEDICARE FOR ALL - Sept 3-7
Took it on the road.

Contacted all my politicians each day.
Wore the shirt button each day - raising a fuss in a Nashville grocery store.
Sticker on the car got some attention as well.
Stickies left about between home and there and back again. - Slipped one in with the cash to pay the meal as we were leaving and the waitress came looking for us - interesting and positive conversation - ending with giving her the button off my shirt.

Tonight, emailed everyone - posted the net up - made a new shirt button -- and a couple of spares.

MEDICARE FOR ALL
Every day - until we have it or I die.

1. Bless you, Smiley!
You are exactly what we need. Actually we need a few million of you.

Don't forget to tell folks vote Democrat--They are the only party who is even suggesting this and it's important to vote this November! The Republicans want to take your Medicare away!

2. I've been trying to keep party out of it.
I live and work in Republican central. Democrat liberal social anything gets a deaf ear instantly. I want medicare for all and I don't much care how we get there. You'd be shocked at how many republicolibertarians are pissed at their medical insurance companies. If they can be persuaded to push the Republicans to expand Medicare then I'm all over that. I'd love to see the Democrats get the credit when it happens and if we don't it's our own damn fault.

5. In PA, 40% of the legislators backing state single payer are Republican
Saving money is a good old conservative value, right?

3. Unfortunately
the HCR 'reform' means that those who we ask for better will have the ready excuse of "Wait until 2014, and all of your dreams will come true!"

That's the biggest reason I despise the so-called HCR, we won't possibly get any chance to improve it until at least 2017.

6. +1

Each day, 273 people die due to lack of health care in the U.S.; that's 100,000 deaths per year.

We need single-payer health care, not a welfare bailout for the serial-killer insurance agencies.

We don't need the GingrichCare of mandated, unregulated, for-profit insurance that is still too expensive, only pays parts of medical bills, denies claims, and bankrupts people. Republinazi '93 plan:
"Subtitle F: Universal Coverage - Requires each citizen or lawful permanent resident to be covered under a qualified health plan or equivalent health care program by January 1, 2005."

"We will never have real reform until people's health stops being treated as a financial opportunity for corporations."
