I feel sanguine about America on all this:

We understand freedom; we understand our First Amendment:

The Cordoba Initiative has an absolute right to build Park51 right there. Do others have a right to ask them not to? Sure. That's also part of the First Amendment.

Those fundies down in Floriduh have an absolute right to burn Korans as well. Do others have a right to ask them not to or to call them morans? Sure. That's the First Amendment.

And this is what makes me feel good about America. America will accept its Muslims. It will let them worship openly, in peace. It will let them live their own lives. But America will never cringe. Unlike Europe, we will never accept "no-go areas" in this country where Sharia is law. We will never shut up our fundie morans, even when they want to be especially fundie or moranic. We will not cringe nor appease out of fear. And when Muslim girls in hijabs share with the trusted adults in their lives that their parents have arranged a marriage for them with an older man they hardly know and can't possibly love, hosts of upstanding liberal American women -- perhaps their teachers -- will tell them it doesn't have to be that way, and will give them the contacts they need to make a break for it.

America will never be Eurabia. Thanks be to God! Inshallah!
